Partnership, City of Rockingham
Rockingham Kwinana Homelessness Interagency Group (RKHIG)
The City of Rockingham administers the Rockingham/Kwinana Homelessness Interagency group (RKHIG) that comprises of all local agencies that offer some form of service for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Via this network, homelessness reference cards, flyers and information is created to distribute to services and people experiencing homelessness. These are updated and produced regularly to keep them current. The RKHIG assist in the coordination of service delivery to reduce duplication in particular in the space of emergency relief. In addition, this network assists to coordinate Homelessness Week and Anti-Poverty week activities, co funded by local governments in partnership with agencies represented on the network. The RKHIG has recently been re-structured to strengthen the focus on emergency relief coordination and support.
Advance to Zero Project (AtoZ)
The City of Rockingham and City of Kwinana are MOU partners represented on the Advance to Zero Project in both the Grassroots Working Group and the Rockingham, Kwinana, Mandurah Improvement Team. Both groups are coordinated and facilitated by Ruah Community Services, supported by all agencies represented.
Grassroots working group
The Rockingham, Kwinana Grassroots Working Group brings the local services sector together to collaborate and coordinate the allocation of housing and support resources to actively support that experiencing homelessness in the local regions.
Where there are identified “hotspots” The Community Wellbeing Team works closely with the Rockingham St Pats HEART Team to ensure that they are capturing all the occupants during various times of the day and offering and providing support to the people they encounter who are experiencing homelessness.
A to Z Improvement Team
The Rockingham, Mandurah, Kwinana Improvement team is a strategic working group aimed to develop innovative and collaborative responses to address gaps or needs identified by the grass roots working group. An example of a project recently achieved was the need to assist people to obtain personal identification (ID)to assist with referrals for other support services such as centrelink, housing etc. Three ID clinics were held, one focused on youth and others general.
